The final round of matches in this season's Insurance Corporation Volleyball Leagues were played out on Sunday, and produced a fitting climax to the campaign.
In the mixed league, Champions Walkers clinched another title with a three set victory against Houze Blockers; though it was by no means an easy game for them. The scoreline of 25-16, 25-23, 25-21 could have easily translated into a five set match had Houze had a little more luck. But during the season these two teams have lead from the start, providing the best matches of the mixed league; and with such different teams. Walkers with a vast mileage of years behind them, many at Island level; whilst Houze Blockers have built themselves up all season, with a mixture of new players linking in well with a few more seasoned campaigners.
Peter Green Builders finished their league with a four set win over Usual Suspects~: 25-14, 25-19, 14-25, 25-13
In the mens league, Pentagon Red Hot Tomatoes beat the Island Ladies squad in three sets, 25-16, 25-21, 25-22 leaving them finishing the league with a creditable third place, and considering they have managed without a true setter for most of the season, and that several of their players are playing in their first year, then they can be proud of their efforts.
In the last ladies game of the season, Insurance Corporation Jets beat 2e2 Panthers emphatically in three sets, 25-19, 25-15, 25-16: and this win gives Jets the runners up spot in the League, finishing second to 2e2 Tigers.

The latest round of matches in the INSURANCE CORPORATION VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE delivered some epic thrillers: long matches with an excellent level of play from all teams. A total of 18 sets over 4 games displays the high level that all teams have reached this season.

Mens League:
ASTROS beat PENTAGON RED HOT TOMATOES by 3 sets to 1: 25-19, 25-22, 23-25, 25-9
JVA beat HLB JACKSON FOX ISLAND LADIES BY 3 sets to 2: 25-15, 18-25, 25-19, 22-25, 15-12
Ladies League:
2e2 TIGERS beat HLB JACKSON FOXES by 3 sets to 2: 25-20, 24-26, 13-25, 25-20, 15-7
Mixed League:
HOUZE BLOCKERS beat USUAL SUSPECTS by 3 sets to 1: 1-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-23

Finally it has happened!!! Walkers mixed volleyball team have been beaten; for the first time in at least five seasons.
The team who succeeded where so many have failed is HOUZE BLOCKERS: in a fantastic five set thriller, Houze found themselves two sets down, but were able to regroup and gradually become stronger and become a threat to Walkers.
Winning set three and then set four by an immense 25-10!! levelled the match and took the game into a fifth and deciding set.
Walkers were determined not to loose their unbeaten record and lead 8-7,before Houze then forced more mistakes with consistent and strong attacks.
Final set scores in Houze's favour: 19-25, 16-25, 25-22, 25-10, 15-12.
In the other mixed game of the day, Bored Softballers continued their improvement to beat Usual Suspects in four sets: 25-19, 25-16, 13-25, 25-15

INSURANCE CORPORATION VOLLEYBALL LEAGUES:
Ladies League:
HLB Jackson Foxes beat Gunsite Juniors in three sets, whilst the match between Insurance Corporation Jets and 2e2 Tigers was an epic 5 set thriller lasting almost tw hours. The lead changed hands at each set, until Jets took the advantage and the match 25-20, 16-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-7.
Mens League:
HLB Jackson Fox Island Ladies sprung a surprise victory on Airtel Vodafone Sandkickers who couldnt field a team, but this was followed by another 5 set game, this time between Pentagon Red Hot Tomatoes and Astros.
A great game for PRHT who were missing six members of their squad but were still able to take the first and third sets; but Astros won out at the end 23-25, 25-12, 24-26, 25-7, 15-4

2010 Volleybal Inter Insulars Results

Following the joyous triumphs of last year, a repeat success of all four titles wa going to be a difficult feat to repeat.
All four matches were played out in three sets, although some of the games deserved to go to more.
Ladies B:
Jersey were victorious in three sets: 26-24, 25-12, 25-12
Mens B:
Also victorious in three sets: 25-13, 25-23,
Ladies A:
Lost in three sets: 24-26, 15-25, 23-25
Mens A:
Lost in three sets: 22-25, 19-25, 22-25
